The wet meadow This wet meadow, located in a xerothermic area, i.e. a dry microclimate, is of great ecological and biological importance: a small jewel to be protected. Important for Lepidoptera (butterflies), for birds, including the characteristic nightjar, a nocturnal insectivore, and for mammals. But it is of particular value for the numerous ponds present in it, a perfect example of non-anthropic wetlands in Piedmont. The ponds are used for the reproduction of 8 species of amphibians, 3 of which are covered by the Habitats Directive. Remarkable and rare is the simultaneous presence of the three Piedmontese newt species, the fascinating great crested newt, the lesser spotted newt and the colourful alpine water newt. The reproductive presence of the Dalmatian frog and the tree frog is also important. The aim of the Natura Invisibile association is to protect this biotope of great naturalistic value and increase its potential through the creation of numerous ponds and pools, transforming the meadow into one of the most important wetlands in the region. We invite users to also enjoy the extraordinary landscape power of the place, a perfect example of the fusion of Mediterranean and Alpine micro-habitats.

Wonderful, challenge yourself, between the mountains, between the waterfalls, you really have the feeling of climbing the mountain, a sense of strength and determination. Getting to the top and breathing was incredible

Long excursion, starting from Margone and arriving at the Cibrario refuge with 1200 m of altitude difference, difficult but fairly smooth path. Then we continue from the refuge, we climb a fairly steep and delicate climb for a first stretch, immediately after there is a beautiful natural lake and from there the climb begins up to the hill, from the hill there are signs, a scree begins that gradually becomes very tiring and dangerous as you climb because the stones crumble, with a little attention you reach the summit with great difficulty but the view is truly beautiful. Excursion suitable for those who already have a lot of experience.

Starting from Margone the path that goes up to the Cirbrario refuge is very steep but doable with 1200 mt. Up to the Cibrario refuge. You then continue to the Croce Rossa peak, the first part is steep and the path is very steep and delicate…then there are some small lakes to cross and you go up to the hill, there is still a very challenging climb and then you pass on a scree until you go up with a very difficult climb with slippery stones, definitely a climb for experts until the summit is 20164 mt of altitude difference from Margone.

This lake deserves a visit because, paying attention, you can admire herons, black-winged stilts and other aquatic birds... as long as there aren't too many people nearby, because the animals are easily frightened. On the left side of the lake there is a path (there are also prohibition signs for bikes, but I saw many tracks, so if there aren't too many people around I think it can be done)

Before reaching the lake, warm up by climbing along the path until you reach the sanctuary of the HOLY FAMILY
