Connection between the lower Susa Valley and the Viú Valley. All asphalt

Very enjoyable

Very suggestive place, you can also get there with a MTB taking into account a bit of portage on the last stretch.

An easy but satisfying climb. The first half is harder, then it drops off significantly to climb the last 2 km.

The direct climb (tramontana path) towards the Chapel is not for everyone, because it is very steep at times with climbing on rocks, but once you reach the top you can enjoy a spectacular view

Quiet and shady, less busy than the Almese side. Excellent for returning to Val di Susa after tours in the Lanzo valleys (Dieta, Malciaussia, etc...)

After crossing the pretty town of Viù, and after a descent of approximately 3 km, the most complicated section of the climb begins until reaching Col San Giovanni. It is a stretch of 11 km with an average of 7%. The first km of this section is the hardest. The road is spectacular. It narrows, the asphalt is kept in perfect condition and many horseshoe curves are crossed. On the left side you have views of Viù and the valley that goes further and further down. The vegetation is very dense and we crossed a spectacular beech forest. Upon reaching Col San Giovanni, the views change radically to see a new valley and the surrounding mountains. I remember thinking that I was discovering a beautiful port and I enjoyed it very much. Until you reach the Col de Lys, from Col San Giovanni, there are 8 quiet kms, the last two being the hardest at 6%.
