The church square in Altenburschla is at least as beautiful as the entire village. It's well worth driving or hiking through this charming little village.

The asphalt is superb to ride on and a fantastic experience when you cycle through the tunnels. Perfect for road bikes – but be careful: When you change sides of the bike path, you have to cross the tracks! When it's hot, the tunnels offer a welcome cooling-off point.

Frida's Church is located in the half-timbered center, but is unfortunately closed. However, there's an information board at the side entrance with some key facts about the surrounding buildings.

The church, consecrated in 1862, replaced a half-timbered church that had only been demolished in 1860 because it was in disrepair. The current church was damaged in the Second World War, and the bells were rediscovered in a storage area in the 1960s and brought home.

The tunnel is part of the former cannon railway line from Berlin to Metz. The tracks are still in the tunnel and the cycle path runs alongside it. It is very adventurous and unique to cycle here.
