One of the refuges where I've eaten the best, the food is truly excellent. If you're passing through, I highly recommend stopping for a bite to eat. It's in a great location beneath Monte Rosa; you can see the Margherita hut through a telescope, and they also have tent sites for sleeping.

We actually planned to cross the mountain from here in mid-May and hike to Alagna Valsesia (highest point at about 2600m). From 2020m, it was impossible to go any further due to the snow! We had to turn around, hike back to Quarrazza, and take a rather inconvenient public transport route via Domodossola and Novara to roughly where we wanted to go (instead of 25km over the mountain, it was about 125km by car or about 6 hours by public transport).
