Such stone monuments were primarily erected for someone who died at the site, either by family members or by the perpetrator of the murder, who had been obligated to do so by arbitration as part of a reconciliation agreement. Commonly, they are therefore also known as expiation stones or murder memorials. This stele, with its horseshoe-shaped headpiece made of Gotlandic limestone, was erected on the medieval trade route between Dassow and Lübeck. It is dedicated to Marquard Börzöw; little is known about the circumstances of his death here. On the front, the headpiece depicts a crucifix standing on a rise, beneath which kneels a male figure with a money pouch at his belt—presumably the person to whom this stone is dedicated. Above his hands is the prayer formula "miserere mei deus" (Miserable love for my God). The access to the Teschower Spitze is almost completely overgrown; you have to fight your way under or over numerous fallen trees and thorny bushes.

On the way to the eastern bank of the Trave, you'll find plenty of woodruff on both the right and left sides. Enjoy it.

A real insider tip This border tower is very remote, but it's easy to climb. There are no ladders inside, and you'll need a bit of a good physical fitness to get there. The concrete will hold up well, though. The tower was part of the border fortifications around Teschow, supposedly one of the best-guarded sections of the entire border.

A really beautiful path with many meters of elevation

We were there spontaneously, I had noted this point in the app for ages. It's super lonely, the path very very narrow, but the goal is worth it! Small oasis in good weather. ⛱️🌊☀️

A narrow, sloping path leads through the nature reserve down to the beach. Very nice place where you can watch the boats on the Trave.
