Both Saint Sebastian and Saint Rocco were invoked in times of plague, and for this reason the church was built on the edge of the city. This building was rebuilt in 1894 and is in excellent condition. A bench outside offers a relaxing break if you've been walking for a long time.

On September 11, 1944, a group of partisans attacked the barracks of the fascist auxiliary police in Alessandria (in Via Pontida) and shot dead an officer of the Black Brigades. In the ensuing battle, Carlo Parodi was killed, the other three were captured and immediately shot by firing squad.
