The pass is somewhat unspectacular, but easy to drive along the road. It's practically a must for further access into the Dolomites.

Near the Giaf refuge (just below) you will find this beautiful little chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Rocks.

The Giaf refuge is located at 1400 meters above sea level. It is one of the support points for entering the Friulian Dolomites park from the north.

Going up the path towards Casera Santigo, you will find a welcoming bench with a picnic table immersed in the greenery of the Dolomites. It is the perfect spot to take a break, enjoy a sandwich and admire the surrounding panorama. This rest area offers a moment of relaxation before tackling the last stretch of the hike. The silence of the mountain, interrupted only by the sounds of nature, makes the stop a regenerating experience. Ideal for families and groups of friends, this corner is an unmissable stop for those who want to experience the hike calmly and appreciate the authentic beauty of Cadore.

Along the historic Military Road of Forte Miaron, hidden in the folds of the mountain, there are the suggestive tunnel depots, a fascinating reminder of the military past of the area. These depots, dug into the rock, served as warehouses and strategic shelters during the First World War, when Forte Miaron played a crucial role in controlling the Mauria Pass and the access routes between Veneto and Friuli. Today, the tunnel depots represent a point of interest for hikers who travel this road, offering an immersion in time and a unique atmosphere. The openings, framed by the living rock, offer suggestive views and a shaded refuge during walks.

Passo Mauria (1,298 m) is one of the most evocative passes in the Eastern Dolomites, located on the border between Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
