The inner-German border ran near Boizenburg/Elbe on the B5, which runs from Lauenburg to Boizenburg. It was an important border route between the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR. Boizenburg also featured a border crossing known as "Checkpoint Harry." Today, the area is a memorial to the division of Germany.

The canal bridge offers a great view towards Mölln and Witzeeze. In Büchen village, the Prieserkate and the old church are worth seeing. On Sundays, coffee and cake are offered in the Prieserkate on certain dates.

The bridge is only accessible to cars in one lane with traffic lights. For cyclists, however, a good, wide cycle path with beautiful views of the canal leads over the bridge.

Here you can get from Büchen village to Büchen over the canal bridge. The cycle and footpath are not affected by the traffic lights. And you have a wonderful view of the Elbe Lübeck Canal.
