View of the Scialandro Rock. The Scialandro Rock is linked to several legends of the Gulf of Policastro. During the eighth century BC, a Greek ship bound for Cumae sank near Punta Infreschi. Only one man survived, clinging to the rock, which later took his name: Scialandro. The man, adopted by the local population, became the village leader and defended the village from a sack by another Greek ship. Built in 1898, this Gothic-style gem is part of the Santa Croce complex, constructed and later entrusted to the Bigi Fathers by Cav. Giuseppe CESARINO, along with the adjacent building, which was, at the benefactor's request, transformed into an educational institution for young people. The decorations are of a high standard, and the overall effect is evocative and aesthetically pleasing. The modestly sized church regularly hosts weddings, thanks to the beauty and solemnity of the building, which enhances the wedding ceremonies. (source: Municipality of Sapri)

An imposing bronze statue dedicated to the legendary Gleaner of Sapri, the protagonist of Luigi Mercantini's famous poem. It depicts the young peasant girl who, according to the poem, witnessed Carlo Pisacane's ill-fated expedition in 1857. Located on the Sapri seafront, the statue overlooks the Gulf of Policastro and offers a spectacular panoramic view, a symbol of freedom and historical memory.

Here, the trail weaves through limestone outcrops, evidence of a long geological history. Let yourself be captivated and accompanied by this trail that takes you to the wildest segment of the Way of St. Nilus.

On this section of the coastal hiking trail near Sapri, we do not come across an image of the famous Copenhagen "mermaid", which was erected there in honour of the Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen (1805 to 1875); but we do see a rather pretty statue: the young lady lies on her stomach on the rock washed by the water and looks dreamily out to sea.
