Santa Maria della Pace is a co-cathedral basilica located in Largo Duomo in Campagna. In March 1925 Pope Pius XI elevated it to the dignity of a minor basilica. The building is structured on two levels: The current co-cathedral basilica of Santa Maria della Pace is located on the upper level. In 1750 the internal stuccos of the vaults were completed and in 1890 the interior was decorated in Baroque style by the Bolognese decorator Rinaldo Casanova. In 1968, Bishop Jolando Nuzzi, motivated by the provisions of the Second Vatican Council, removed all the 1890 embellishments and the eighteenth-century wooden choir, four side altars in polychrome marble, the bishop's throne in marble, the marble balustrade of the presbytery and had the high altar. Since 1986, it has been the co-cathedral of the archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno.
