Monna dell'Orso is a mountain located in the Monte Livata district, in the Simbruini Mountains. With a height of 1,745 meters above sea level, it is one of the most emblematic peaks in the area. The mountain is famous for its ski resort, which includes a four-seater chairlift that allows you to easily reach the top and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding valley. In addition to winter, Monna dell'Orso is also a popular destination during the summer season, thanks to its trails that lead to panoramic excursions in the heart of the Simbruini Mountains Regional Natural Park.

Monte Autore, with its 1,854 meters of altitude, is the third peak of the Simbruini mountains. It can be reached with an easy walk from Campo dell'Osso, also suitable for families and less fit people. It is a very panoramic peak, which offers the gaze a broad view of the Apennines: from the Gran Sasso, to Terminillo, to the nearby Mount Velino up to the Meta mountains further south. The walk to the top is possible in any season, in winter with snowshoes. Autumn is the best season, when the Simbruini woods are tinged with multiple colours.

Challenging but worth the effort

The ascent of Monte Livata crosses the spectacular panorama of the Simbruini mountains. Monte Livata is part of the municipality of Subiaco and is located at an altitude of 1,429 metres. It is a very popular place for walking and various sports activities: it is called the mountain of the capital.

The Vali di Monte Salviano is located at 902 m above sea level within the homonymous nature reserve. In 2000 the work entitled "Teatro della Germinazione" was installed, a sculpture by the artist Pietro Cascella.

Monna della Forcina is one of the key points in the Mtb outings in Simbruini: here you can start the hard climb of Mount Tarino (not recommended by bike from this side), go up towards Campo Staffi, go down towards Campo Ceraso and Campo della Pietra or go down towards Fiumata or Fillet. If you need water, go to Fiumata, Campo Ceraso or Campo Staffi.

From the summit of Monte Autore the view sweeps 360 degrees towards the valley of the sanctuaries and the villages on its slopes. It can be reached by MTB going up from Campo dell'Osso, the last hundreds of meters you have to push the bike on foot due to the steep slopes and very loose stony ground
