The Sentiero del Carbonaio is a fascinating route that winds through the Marche Apennines. Even today, it is possible to come across the evocative piles of wood that the charcoal burners, with great dedication, transform into valuable coal.

The Auro natural pools are a true jewel hidden in the heart of the Marche Apennines.

Borgo Pace is the most "internal" municipality of the Metauro Valley, its vast territory extends to the borders with Umbria, Tuscany and Emilia Romagna, in the heart of the Apennines. This has always been an area of commerce, spirituality, villages and castles.

The history of Palazzo Mucci, a castle fortified since the 12th century, is closely linked to that of the eight nearby medieval castles (first of all Castel dei Fabbri) which had a tormented fate: first united under the vicariate of Lamoli, they were then disputed by the Duke of Urbino, under the constant threat of the Brancaleoni family, and finally reconquered by the Church.

In the first plain of the Auro valley, where the stream begins to relax and unwind, stands the village of Parchiule, 600 meters above sea level. Parchiule is in a point where many paths start, it is located along the Strada della Luna and from the center it is possible to take simple routes such as the Sentiero della Natura or more complicated ones, such as the 390bis, which leads up to the Alpe della Luna.

The Sentiero del Carbonaio takes hikers through the picturesque landscapes of the Marche Apennines, where coal production was normal in the past. There are signs along the way explaining the process.
