Direct route to Schattdorf

In this sharp bend there is a passing place for large vehicles and a bench with a wonderful view of the lake. Here you can safely get off your bike away from the road and enjoy the view of the Uri region.

Many roads converge in Brunnen, which is beautifully situated on Lake Lucerne, making it a good starting point, rest stop or destination for a tour of Central Switzerland. Important and good to know for cyclists: The well-known Axenstrasse between Brunnen and Altdorf is currently being renovated and is therefore closed to bicycles. However, there is a free shuttle bus that runs between Brunnen and Sisikon. This means that the closed part of the road can still be included in a tour. The Urnerboden is located almost exactly in the middle of the Klausen Pass climb from Linthal. The flat plateau offers a welcome breather before the beautiful final climb (600 meters in altitude).

Tell Monument and Türmli, Altdorf The Türmli was built in the middle of the 13th century as a representation and residential tower. Today the Türmli is a monument and supports the Swiss national hero William Tell, who is here as a bronze statue by Richard Kissling commemorating the apple shot.
