From the Tyrrhenian Sea to Lado dell'Angitola. A route that is worth a visit, before entering Aspromonte. Legs and heart, Calabria is all uphill. :)

Here are the ruins of Rocca Angitola which was destroyed during the earthquake of 1783. Among the ruins you can see the remains of the city walls, the castle, some churches and the view of Lake Angitola.

Surrounded by conifers, this small artificial lake is an ideal place to stop. Created in the 1980s, the lake is located at 850 meters above sea level and is halfway along the Kalabria Coast to Coast path.

The lake is included in the Serre Park. It is Circum navigated by the Kalabria coast to coast trekking route

Artificial lake created in 1966 by the damming of the Angitola river. It is recognized as a naturalistic oasis protected by the WWF.

The Serre Regional Natural Park was established in 2004 and is included between the Aspromonte and Sila National Parks. The environment is characterized by lush forests, rivers, wetlands, lakes as well as various species of fauna and flora.

There are many nice picnic spots along the lake, which is a nature reserve and can only be entered by prior arrangement.
