What you see here are not the summit craters, but the northeast crater.

Classic Refuge always open in a wooded and cool area on the slopes of Etna. Outside a woodshed, in another hut a stable-manger and inside the refuge a table and two bunk beds on which to store sleeping bags. Someone always leaves something, liquor or even commemorative writings (which I would avoid though)

Tough road for a gravel bike

At Piano Provenzana the asphalt ends of what can be considered the north-east side of Etna, namely that of Linguaglossa. In winter it is a popular ski resort, while in summer it is possible to continue pedaling towards the mouths of the volcano thanks to a fat-wheeled bicycle. Bars, kiosks and other types of services such as rentals and guides are often open here.

The famous high mountain trail is about 42 kilometers long in total and consists of a tour of the Etna volcano, whose park will leave you speechless. Here you walk or cycle around an altitude of 1,750 meters, in a plant biodiversity and among the most beautiful refuges in Sicily.

Very cold water all year round. Very busy in summer. After rain in winter, the gorge is partially closed due to the risk of floods.
