Beautiful tour, even in the rain.

Wonderful bivouacs overlooking the Strait of Messina. However, I advise you not to pitch tents on the plateau of the Forestry Watch Tower because (said by the forestry workers themselves) there is the danger of unexpected and very powerful lightning. For bivouacking there is, just below the Forest Tower, another smaller plateau, next to the access road to the plateau.

A wonderful panoramic point on the Ionian and Tyrrhenian side, the peak is located at an altitude of 1065 m, the view from here repays all the effort made to get there.

From here the speedboats and ferries leave daily for the Aeolian islands of Lipari, Vulcano and Stromboli.

Taking the downhill crossroads you go towards the beach of La Croce a Mare, so called because of a curious little Madonna who watches over the sea from the rocks.

The mighty natural fortress, from which the Greek city took its name, had already seen the flourishing of the Neolithic, Bronze and Iron civilizations, and continued to be a fortress under the Greeks, Romans and Byzantines.

In this extremely panoramic stretch you can admire the sea on the horizon and enjoy the sea breeze.
