The approximately 280-meter-long and 90-meter-wide forest lake is approximately five meters deep at its deepest point. It is located in the northern part of the "Sonnenburger Wald und Ahrendskehle" nature reserve. Formerly called the Black Pond, it was renamed the Devil's Lake almost 200 years ago. As part of the Hammerthal valley, there are many stories about the lake. Today, you can find numerous beaver tracks around the lake and several beaver lodges. A lawn invites you to linger, and the lake itself, of course, is a great place to cool off.

2025 relatively new cycle path with the finest asphalt, which, however, ends abruptly towards the city center (at a nice ice cream parlor). Later the cycle path continues along the hiking trail at the Straussee.

The Marienkirche Strausberg is the oldest building in the city and one of the largest surviving fieldstone churches in Brandenburg. The church was built in 1250 as the parish church of Strausberg. More about the history and furnishings at: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marienkirche_(Strausberg)

Very nice path, unfortunately a bit unkempt with some trees lying across it.

The church originally dates back to the 13th century, but has burned down several times. It is one of the largest fieldstone churches in the Margraviate of Brandenburg.

Definitely a must for a sociable stop. I have rarely experienced so much heart. And in front of an impressive, almost mystical backdrop. The Baasee and its taverns. Simply great.

The water of the small waterfall near Cöthen flows directly into the Falkenberger Fließ.
