The Erla rises about 20 km south of the Danube in the fertile hills of Lower Austria's Mostviertel between Kleinraming and Behamberg, then flows north, where it passes Sankt Valentin and the town of Erla. One or the other crayfish has already been spotted in the Erlabach.

The Sacred Heart Chapel in Viehdorf, better known as the "Moar-Hansl Chapel", was built in 1912 by several families from Viehdorf on the former site of a weather cross to ask for spiritual protection from bad weather such as hail or storms. The historical picture shows the inauguration of the chapel in 1912. Initially built in an open form, the "Moar-Hansl Chapel" was given a closed prayer room with two rows of benches. The chapel was last renovated in 1999, and in 2021 the municipality of St. Valentin built a panoramic map and new benches for day trippers, hikers or those seeking peace and quiet.
