Opposite the street start the stairs to the castle ruins

Stairs are easy to climb and well maintained. But very steep.

It was closed for renovations when I visited, but the construction workers let me in.

The Torre Salsa nature reserve is an oasis protected by the WWF. Inside the reserve, there is the Salsa Tower. The coast is characterized by high overhanging cliffs and the territory is covered with vineyards, olive groves and the "Secagno" tomato, which grows only in this drought area. In spring, the 20 species of orchids bloom which can be visited by following the path from the visitor center that leads to the orchid garden.

Fascinating cathedral, both for its unique position, located outside the city center and surrounded by a breathtaking landscape, and for its sober architecture. The tones of its facade blend harmoniously with the neighboring rocks.

The Convent of San Pellegrino, enlarged in the eighteenth century, stands on an original Norman foundation built on the remains of an Arab fortress on the site where the legend places the story of the triumph of the holy bishop over the devouring dragon.

Very suggestive cathedral, both for its particular location, outside the town center immersed in a splendid landscape, and for its austere style, the colors of the facade integrate perfectly with the surrounding rocks.

In 1194, Queen Sibyl, her daughters and her son William III, the last Norman king of Sicily, took refuge in this castle fortress, from the Arab-Norman era, but Henry VI of Swabia, by deceit, captured them and usurped the power.
