8월 10, 2025, Macalube di Aragona Nature Reserve
The site is still closed in 2025, but you can approach the fence where you can observe one of the most distant volcanoes. Furthermore, there seems to be a possibility of a "soon" reopening. The macalube (or maccalube) are small mud volcanoes formed by a rare geological phenomenon called sedimentary volcanism: methane gas pressure causes gas, water, and clayey sediments to escape from the subsurface, forming mud cones very similar to volcanoes. The term likely derives from the Arabic maqlùb, meaning "overturning" or "upside down," referring to the lifting and overturning of older materials brought to the surface during eruptive phases (from the web).

3월 16, 2025, Scala dei Turchi
Scala dei Turchi is a cliff famous for its spectacular white rock formations overlooking the sea. It is made of marl, a white sedimentary rock shaped by the erosion of wind and water. The name comes from popular tradition, according to which in ancient times Turkish pirates used to climb this cliff to land on the Sicilian coast.

7월 31, 2024, World War II Bunker
"The bunker was built between 1941 and 1943, during the Italian occupation of Sicily, as part of a coastal defense system to protect the Sicilian coast from Allied attacks. The structure was designed to house a coastal artillery battery and to provide a safe haven for Italian troops in the event of attack".

7월 11, 2024, Joppolo Giancaxio
Such a warm little village. I was in the bar opposite the church on the piazza and was greeted so warmly as if I had always lived there. Next to the church is a beautiful mural and I also had a good meal at il Pellegrino.

Around the majestic cliff of the ducal castle, built by the Colonna princes, stands the picturesque village of Joppolo Giancaxio, founded in 1696 at the behest of the baron. In addition to its castle, this agricultural center is famous for the cultivation of yellow melon and for the annual festival held in early August, attracting enthusiasts and the curious.

11월 17, 2023, Scala dei Turchi
The Scala dei Turchi is a sheer cliff that overlooks the crystalline sea making it a very suggestive place. The name derives from the Saracen pirates who, in 1500, were mistakenly called Turks. The cliff made of many steps helped the many pirates to climb up to plunder the towns.

7월 17, 2023, Stazione di Agrigento Bassa
The history of the Agrigento Bassa railway station, or Agrigento Centrale, begins in the 19th century, during the era of Bourbon domination in Sicily. The construction of the railway line that connected Agrigento to other cities of the island was started in 1874. The station opened on April 25, 1883 and became an important railway junction for the region. Thanks to its strategic position, it facilitated the transport of agricultural goods and resources from the surrounding lands, contributing to the economic development of Agrigento and the surrounding areas. During the period of railway expansion in Sicily, Agrigento Bassa station became a point of reference for travelers and local residents who used the train as their main means of transport. The station underwent several expansion and restructuring interventions over the years to cope with the increase in passenger traffic. However, with the advent of road transport and the expansion of the road network, the Agrigento Bassa station gradually began to lose importance. The decrease in rail traffic led to a reduction in services and the adaptation of infrastructures. Despite this, the station of Agrigento Bassa continues to play a fundamental role in the railway connection of the region. It still offers passenger transport services to various destinations in Sicily, allowing travelers to easily reach Agrigento and its tourist attractions, such as the Valley of the Temples, one of the most important archaeological sites on the island. In recent years, efforts have been made to upgrade and modernize the station in order to offer a better experience to passengers and to preserve its historic significance.
