In the center of Corniglio stands the 13th century castle that was owned by the Rossi and Farnese families and in 1820 was sold to the municipal administration, today the municipal headquarters. In front of the castle there is the small temple of SS. Lucio and Amanzio dedicated to the fallen. Via Roma is the most characteristic place in Corniglio with carved stone portals, beyond the centuries-old Roman bridge. In the Castle a Hostel.

The climb from the Tuscan side is splendid, without traffic and with few exposed sections, for the most part you pedal protected by the woods (there is also a point to refuel a few kilometers from the summit). The slopes are never excessive even if towards the end it becomes more grim. The Parma side, while still remaining very beautiful, is irregular and with challenging peaks. No refueling point

The Magra is a river in Northern Italy that rises at an altitude of 1,200 m in the Apennines. The river is about 70 km long. The Magra flows through several towns and villages, including Pontremoli, Filattiera, Villafranca in Lunigiana and Aulla in the province of Massa-Carrara, and Santo Stefano di Magra, Vezzano Ligure, Arcola, Sarzana and Ameglia in the province of La Spezia. At Bocca di Magra (Mouth of the Magra) the river flows into the Ligurian Sea. In Roman times it was known as the Macra. She then marked the eastern border of Liguria (modern Liguria). On April 8, 2020 around 10:20 local time near Caprigliola, a bridge over the Magra collapsed due to poor maintenance. Due to the Corona crisis in Italy, the bridge was used by few vehicles at the time and only two people were injured.

The castle of Corniglio is a very suggestive structure. It was built entirely of sandstone around the year 1000 at the behest of the Rossi counts. Today it houses a hostel with 50 beds, managed by a local cooperative.
