Especially at sunset (and at sunrise if you're an early riser, when it's much less crowded), you have a fantastic view of the region and the karst mountains. The path up is secured with ropes and bamboo poles. Sturdy shoes are recommended. It gets crowded in the evenings. Easily accessible from Vangvieng by tuk-tuk, bicycle, or scooter. It's likely to be very slippery in the rain!

Not far from Vangvueng you can visit 4 caves in a row. In the first one you can even go tubing. In the other 2 you can walk a good way (with good shoes! The floors are wet and slippery, you can borrow a headlamp there) until it gets narrower and lower. With stalactites and stalagmites. In the 4th cave there is a stalactite that looks like an elephant. It is easily accessible from Vangvieng by tuktuk.

From this vantage point you have the typical postcard motif of the region and it is particularly beautiful at sunrise and sunset. Every truck driver knows this point and will take you there at any time.
