8월 17, 2025, Rifugio San Jorio
Border pass between Italy and Switzerland, once an important route for smuggling and partisan warfare in the area. On the Italian side, the trail is easily accessible by mountain bike, although gravel riding is also a challenge, especially along the last two kilometers from Giovo. The pass is located at an altitude of 2,000 meters, and just below is the refuge of the same name. A stunning setting, largely untouched by human activity.

Open from June to September, this very welcoming refuge is located a few meters below the pass of the same name. The last 2 km are very difficult for gravel bikes, with a very rough road. The final section becomes paved with large stones, with gradients always above 10°. Stunning view and a large selection of snacks for those arriving.

One of the three peaks (together with Sertore and Pasquella) that separates the valley that descends to the lake towards Colonno from the valley that descends towards Ponna and towards Val d'Intelvi. Reachable via an easy path from the Colonno alp (where there is a large parking lot and a refuge), and that in less than an hour leads to a magnificent view of Lake Como and Galbiga. A few meters down from the peak there is a practical table with two wooden benches.

The Ghisallo hill (Ghisall in Lombard) is a road pass that connects Valassina with the upper part of the Lariano Triangle. The crossing point, at an altitude of 754 m above sea level, is part of the municipality of Magreglio. A few meters from the pass there is a small church: the sanctuary of the Madonna del Ghisallo. Its name (according to an ancient legend) derives from a certain Ghisallo who in medieval times was attacked by bandits in that place and made a vow to the Madonna to build a church in his honor if he escaped. The sanctuary of the Madonna del Ghisallo The Ghisallo climb (from the north side) is traditionally covered by the Giro di Lombardia and has also been included several times in the route of the Giro d'Italia. For this reason, the Madonna del Ghisallo is particularly venerated by cyclists, and on the initiative of the then parish priest Don Ermelindo Viganò (1906–1985), in 1949 Pope Pius XII proclaimed her the universal patroness of cyclists. Next to the sanctuary you can find the Cycling Museum and the "Monument to the cyclist", designed and created by Elio Ponti, sculptor from Ponzate, Como. Source: Wikipedia

You can confidently ignore this rifugio. Didn't get anything to drink or eat, although many guests ate there. Was treated like I wasn't even there. Don't know if it was because I was recognizable as German because of the language? I've never been treated so rudely in my life!

Saint Amaa and his seven brothers A legend has it that many years ago, seven very religious brothers decided to retreat to an isolated home far from community life to dedicate their existence to the spiritual rite. San Sifiro retreated to the summit of Mount Legnoncino, San Defendente chose Mount Cavedine between Perledo and Esino, San Primo went to the summit of the mountain of the same name above Bellagio, Sant'Amaa favored the "saddle" between Grona and Bregagno, San Lucio he preferred the ridge between Val Cavargna and Val Colla, San Jorio took refuge at the pass of the same name on the border with Switzerland, Sant'Eufemia, the only sister, preferred and opted for the Sasso di Musso.

Tensioned wire, crawled under wire to continue, but it doesn't seem to be the intention anymore. No detour indicated. Just continued on the road, but encountered many loose boulders and even straw on the path. So a bit dangerous. So watch out!

7월 14, 2022, Sasso di Musso
The Sasso di Musso is an elevation that rises from the remains of the famous castle of Musso on the western shore of Lake Como, close to the much better known and imposing Monte Bregagno. An important attraction of the place are the remains of the Fortress of Musso, known for its proverbial impregnability: its famous inhabitant was Gian Giacomo Medici (known as the "Medeghino"), who from here carried out looting in the lakeside cities and who was convinced by the Milanese to abandon the castle only after the promise of the fief of Melegnano.
