The Basilica of San Fedele is a Romanesque church and was built in its current style at the beginning of the 12th century. Before that, an old Christian church from the 7th century stood here. It is located in the center of the old town. There are also numerous places to stop for refreshments and many shops here.

The entrance fee is just one euro and it is really worth it. The cathedral is richly decorated with works of art.

Very beautiful church. Impressive building that you should definitely see from the inside. It's like being led through a one-way street. In one side, out the other. When I was there, an orchestra was playing outside, which captured the atmosphere and lightened the mood at the same time.

The Cathedral of Como (Italian: Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, also Duomo di Como) is the cathedral of the diocese of Como. It is located in the old town of Como, Via Maestri Comacini, 4. The cathedral was the last of the Gothic cathedrals to be built in Lombardy. Construction began in 1396, around ten years after the foundation stone of the Milan Cathedral was laid, and lasted around three and a half centuries. During this time, numerous architectural styles were incorporated into the cathedral. The dominant architectural style remains the original style of the late Gothic or early Renaissance.[1] The cathedral houses an important painting of St. Joseph by Giambattista Pittoni. The cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, commonly known as the cathedral of Como, is the main place of worship in the city of Como, mother church of the diocese of the same name. Located near the lake, it represents one of the most notable monuments in northern Italy. Inside there are 16th and 17th century tapestries, made in Ferrara, Florence and Brussels, and 16th century paintings by Bernardino Luini and Gaudenzio Ferrari.
