Cavo Diotti is the hydraulic work that since 1812 has regulated the flow of the Lambro River and, consequently, the level of Lake Pusiano. The dam, the oldest of its kind in Italy, is composed of a first section of open-air canal, a building housing the flow regulation system and an underground canal. It was designed by the Milanese lawyer Luigi Diotti with the aim of connecting the Lambro River to Lake Pusiano and thus promoting fishing activities, irrigation of the land even in the summer months and the operation of the mills located downstream, especially in periods of drought of the Lambro.
