To reach Montecchio di Darfo, starting from Boario, you cross the so-called "Roman bridge." It is a scenic 24-meter, single-span bridge, built from blocks of granite and Simona stone in 1686, over the remains of an older bridge that connected the medieval castle on Monticolo to the opposite bank of the river. It has been recognized as a national monument.

To get to the hamlet of Montecchio, starting from Boario, you pass over a scenic Roman bridge almost 25 meters long. It is built of granite and stone blocks on the remains of an older bridge, which connected the medieval castle to the opposite bank of the river. In 2013 the bridge was closed to car traffic, becoming cycle-pedestrian only.

This section of the Via Valeriana runs at the foot of the Dosso della Regina (in dialect Dòsh de la Regina), a mountain north-east of Pisogne and west of Fraine. The name seems to have been linked to an ancient popular tradition which tells of a "queen hunt" (big game). Slow down, look up and try to see the tip of this mountain over 1,000 meters high in the lower Val Camonica.
