The steps in the Adige River near Algund are an artificially constructed riverbed ramp used for hydraulic engineering and flood protection. The stepped structure slows the water's velocity, protecting the riverbed from erosion. At the same time, the steps help better control runoff during floods. Such structures not only contribute to technical safety but can also be designed with ecological benefits in mind – for example, as a fish-passable hiking aid. The Adige steps blend harmoniously into the landscape and offer an attractive view for cyclists on the Adige Valley Cycle Path. They are particularly visible from the path along the Via Claudia Augusta and represent a vivid example of modern river design in harmony with nature and technology.

This green tunnel, covered in ivy and branches, forms a particularly atmospheric passageway on the path to the Trauttmansdorff Throne Chairs. Like a naturally grown archway, the dense tangle of vines stretches across the path, creating an almost fairytale-like feeling – a quiet, shady transition between the vibrant garden landscape and the expansive vistas that await beyond. The view through the tunnel acts as a symbolic prelude: Behind it, the path opens up to one of the most beautiful vantage points in the area – a moment that combines nature, tranquility, and a special atmosphere.

Sigmundskron Castle is located south of Bolzano, above the Adige River. The castle has changed hands and names several times over the centuries. Before Sigmundskron, the castle was called Firmian. The current owner, Reinhold Messner, also calls the castle ruins that, more precisely MMM Firmian (Messner Mountain Museum). The MMM is a project with six locations in Tyrol.
