Roscommon Castle is a dramatic 13th-century Norman Castle. It was built in 1269 by Robert de Ufford, Justiciar of Ireland, on lands which were taken from an Augustinian priory. While the castle now lies in ruins, its remnants are meticulously preserved within the scenic grounds of Loughnaneane Park. If you're passing by, it's worth taking a leisurely stroll through the park and around these historic remains.

The Cistercian monastery dates back to the 12th century, but lost its importance by the 15th century. It was later used by the army and is only partially preserved today. What is left is still very impressive.

Head through the old twisted yew trees and over the old stone bridge to reach this interesting small island that you can cycle around.

The network of time-honoured walking routes is about as far as you can get from the pressures of modern living. The views of the rural Irish countryside here are simply beautiful.

The flat peaceful walks along the tranquil shores of Lough Errit are beautiful. The amenity area also has a slipway, bathing area, car park and boat house on its shores.
