Pake Bridge is one of the many arched stone bridges built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries when the Royal Canal was first constructed. Like others along the route, it was designed to let horses tow barges beneath while carts and livestock crossed above. Today it’s a quiet spot to pause, with a bench beside the bridge that makes it perfect for a break.

This very impressive, opulent French Gothic courthouse, designed by Rawson Carroll, is well preserved and is not only one of the most striking and memorable buildings in Sligo, but also one of the finest examples of its genre in the country.

The famous Irish poet William Butler Yeats is closely associated with County Sligo; he used the abbey in two short stories: "The Crucifixion of the Outcasts" and "The Curse of Fire and Shadow." Yeats is buried in the nearby Drumcliffe Church.

Roscommon Castle is a dramatic 13th-century Norman Castle. It was built in 1269 by Robert de Ufford, Justiciar of Ireland, on lands which were taken from an Augustinian priory. While the castle now lies in ruins, its remnants are meticulously preserved within the scenic grounds of Loughnaneane Park. If you're passing by, it's worth taking a leisurely stroll through the park and around these historic remains.

The Caves Of Keash tower over the small village of Keash on the west side of Keshcorran Hill. The caves consist of 17 chambers and have clear evidence of human life in the form of brown bear, red deer and wolf bones. Jump off the bike and walk up to the caves to see into a window of ancient history.

The Cistercian monastery dates back to the 12th century, but lost its importance by the 15th century. It was later used by the army and is only partially preserved today. What is left is still very impressive.
