San Pietro da Verona in Sant’Anastasia, commonly known as Sant’Anastasia or Santa Anastasia, is a Gothic brick basilica and the largest church building in the northern Italian city of Verona. Its imposing appearance and rich interior make it a must-see for art and history enthusiasts. Construction of the Basilica di Sant’Anastasia began around 1290 and continued for more than a century. The church was built in close proximity to the Piazza dei Signori, the political center of Verona, and was likely used as the court church of the Scaliger princes. The Della Scala family, who ruled Verona in the late 13th and 14th centuries, significantly supported its construction. The church retains the name of a Lombard predecessor church dedicated to Saint Anastasia, a 4th-century martyr. San Marco pedestrian and cycle bridge

On April 25, 2023, the day of the Liberation and the feast of the Evangelist/Saint Mark, patron saint of Veneto, the municipal authorities of San Martino Buon Albergo and San Giovanni Lupatoto inaugurated and opened the pedestrian bridge over the Adige River that connects the two municipalities, named after the Evangelist Saint. The connection provides a link between the Pista dell Adige and the Marco Pantani path in the Pontoncello Park, a regional park of local importance, where a cycle/pedestrian path is located in honor of the cyclist Marco Pantani, much frequented by both athletes and non-athletes.
