This viewpoint is also worth seeing for sunrise. However, the path from the parking lot at Rio Arieiro to the start of the Ninho da Manta trail was completely icy when we were there. It only became passable once the sun thawed the ice.

The bay is part of the popular hiking route along Ponta de São Lourenço, which offers breathtaking views.

From here it's a steep climb up to the 25 springs.

The turning point becomes wildly romantic again, with small waterfalls and pristine scenery. It's worth taking a break here before heading back.

The Pico Ruivo mountain hut lies just below the summit and is the perfect spot for a break in the thin mountain air. Here you can take shelter, have something to eat, refill your water bottles, and gather your strength for the final ascent. It's ideal for enjoying the view of the surrounding ridges before continuing on to Madeira's highest point.

From this point, you have a great view of Achada do Teixeira and the surrounding mountain ridges – a beautiful mix of rugged rocky landscape and expansive sky. You can see where roads, parking areas, and trails converge, allowing you to perfectly plan your route. Ideal for a quick photo stop before continuing towards Pico Ruivo or back down into the valley.

From this viewpoint, you have a perfect view of the Rocha dos Ingleses, which rises prominently from the landscape. Behind it, hills and valleys stretch out, and depending on your position, you can even catch a glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean. It's ideal for a short photo break and a few deep breaths of fresh air before continuing on the trail.

The Levada dos Cedros leads you along a narrow, mostly level path beside the water through dense laurel forest – typical of Madeira and truly atmospheric. Moss-covered trees, ferns, and the constant babbling of the water create a genuine jungle feeling. Be careful of the sometimes slippery surface when wet and enjoy the many views of the valley.
