Treinfeld is a part of the Lower Franconian municipality of Rentweinsdorf in the Haßberge district. The village is located in the eastern part of the district in the Baunachgrund, to the left of the Baunach River. The old gatehouse was built in 1551 as the southern gate of the village fortifications.
