The Clemenswerth Palace Chapel is also known as the northernmost Rococo chapel in Bavaria due to its richness of color and form. For all railway enthusiasts: In Lathen (Emsland), an old steam locomotive has stood as a memorial since 1977, commemorating the long-gone narrow-gauge railway between Lathen and Werlte. The locomotive is nicknamed "Pingel Anton." Although it didn't run on this line, its design resembles the engines that once steamed along here. The memorial locomotive originally came from Donawitz, a town on the Hungarian-Austrian border.

Originally, the Virgin Mary stood in a niche on the outer wall so that passing boatmen could greet her.
