The ancient village was born as Castagneto Marittimo and in 1907 changed its name to Castagneto Carducci, in honor of the famous poet Giosuè Carducci, who spent his childhood in this land.

Great old town, nice shops and bars, great view

Born as Castagneto Marittimo and becoming Castagneto Carducci in 1907 in honor of the famous poet who spent his childhood in these lands, the village is absolutely one of the stops to include in our travel diary during your holiday in Tuscany. Immersed in the Livorno Maremma, in the heart of the Etruscan Coast, unlike other Tuscan villages in the area, with panoramas and glimpses of the coast, not far away we find Bolgheri, with which it is connected by the wonderful Bolgheri road which offers unique scenery, sneaking through vineyards and cultivated fields.

A beautiful old well from which you also have a great view.

The Via Campigliese is a historic road that connected Castagneto to Campiglia Marittima, among forests of holm oaks and cork trees, overlooking the sea. Wayfarers, traders, pilgrims have traveled this route; even today a stretch of this suggestive road has the original pavement.

The Segalari tower is one of the places of Carduccian reunions. The tower is quadrangular in stone, crenelated. On the south-east and west sides there is a window and on the east side there is the entrance door (currently partly walled up).

Very suggestive road for the views of the rural and wooded landscape of the northern area of Castagneto Carducci. You walk among large cultivations of olive trees on terraces, vineyards and small wooded spots.
