Atri Cathedral is one of the most beautiful churches in the Province of Teramo and Abruzzo. The symbol of the town, it is located in the Piazza Duomo, opposite the Municipal Theater.

Atri and its gullies

Mutignano is a hamlet of the Municipality of Pineto, once it was the town of the ancient Pineto and the seat of the municipal administration. Later, with the expansion along the coast, the Municipality was moved to the current Pineto. The village is located on a hill above Pineto and is very suggestive.

The rectangular façade of the church features a Romanesque portal with a beautiful rose window, while on the right side there are three other portals. The Romanesque bell tower with a pointed lantern dominates the cathedral and the nearby hills.

The complex is made up of the church and the annexed former Benedictine convent. The latter is now owned by a farm that produces quality wine, which has transformed the convent into a location for wine tasting and sales.

Attached to the Benedictine monastery, it has a square plan with arches and an octagonal brick well in the centre of the courtyard. The cloister has lunettes frescoed by the Polish master Sebastiano Majewski.

5.6 km circular tour with ascent and descent, I recommend not doing it in very hot periods.
