아라곤 성 – 아드리아 해 위의 역사적인 전망대 아라곤 성은 코스타 데이 트라보키의 인상적인 북쪽 시작점입니다. 15세기에 지어진 이 요새는 가파른 절벽 위에 자리 잡고 있으며, 아드리아 해, 오르토나 항구, 비아 베르데 데이 트라보키 해안선의 멋진 전망을 선사합니다. 거대한 원형 탑과 두꺼운 성벽은 격동의 과거를 떠올리게 합니다. 이 성은 제2차 세계 대전 중 치열한 전투를 견뎌냈으며, 이후 단지의 일부가 소실되었습니다. 그것만으로도 충분하지 않다는 듯이, 1946년에는 산사태로 인해 요새의 거의 절반이 바다로 사라졌습니다. 오늘날 이곳은 오르토나에서 가장 아름다운 전망대 중 하나이며, 자전거 또는 도보 여행 중에 이상적인 휴식 장소입니다. 성의 폐허와 안뜰은 무료로 입장할 수 있습니다. 항구에서 짧고 힘든 오르막길이 기다리고 있지만, 멋진 파노라마로 충분히 보상받을 것입니다. 또한 성 주변에는 잠시 숨을 돌릴 수 있는 아늑한 테라스와 그늘진 벤치가 있습니다.

Built in the Middle Ages, this gateway is one of the main entrances to the ancient village. On one of its sides, you can read a verse by Gabriele D'Annunzio, which reads: "The city of stone, shone in the clear of May."

During the Second World War, a gunpowder depot blew up and seriously damaged the facility. A subsequent landslide destroyed further parts. The facility was restored in 2001. Now it looks almost a bit too new, but the next few centuries will change that again :-)

A beautiful castle

The Aragonese castle of Ortona is not only a splendid monument but also an excellent panoramic point. From here you can admire the Trabocchi coast to the south and a beautiful stretch of the famous cycle path. Entry to the castle area is free and it's worth taking a tour just for how well maintained it is.

The seafront of Francavilla al Mare is perfect for walking and finding refreshment in one of the many restaurants present. The beach is eight kilometers long and is characterized by golden sand. During the Second World War, the city was totally destroyed, and therefore the city you see today is quite modern. It is the departure or arrival for the Costa dei Trabocchi cycle path, now a well-known destination in the world of cycling and cycle tourism.

Originally known as Porta della Fiera, it was rebuilt in 1841 in its current form; it faces via Occidentale, former state road 363, next to the Torre Adriana. The structure, articulated around a round arch, has a regular stone facing only on the external facade. On the top there is a pediment with a coat of arms and an inscription commemorating the date of inauguration of the road.
