The soldier was stationed in Osterburken in the 3rd century AD as a beneficiary of the governor. Beneficiaries were soldiers assigned to special duties such as customs and police duties.

The Osterburken Roman Fort is an important Roman military camp and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes. It was built around 160 AD as a cohort fort and later expanded with an annex fort. The fort served to secure and monitor the Roman border and housed units such as the Cohors III Aquitanorum equitata.

The Karle Horse Farm in Osterburken is a traditional family business that has been working with horses for generations. Originally, the horses were used in the fields, but today the focus is on boarding, breeding, and competitive horse riding.
