Beautiful hike, lots of views, even far into the Thuringian Forest, possibility to stop for refreshments halfway through the tour. Mostly forest paths, so varied, but only for sure-footed hikers.

After an arduous climb you have a rewarding view over Saalfeld, as far as the Schwarzatal and Greifenstein Castle.

If you want to visit the tower, I recommend the Open Monument Day in September. We were thrilled. 😄
