In summer, departure between 6.30 and 7 am is preferable due to traffic and weather.

The route starts at the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Miracoli and then heads straight towards Castel del Monte. There are two really tough uphill sections (for me) with gradients of 7 to 9%. The return leg is almost entirely downhill, reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h, with the exception of two or three steep sections.

Barri's return is rather calm!

One of the access doors, for those coming from Bari, to the historic center of Bitonto. The first images date back to the sixteenth century, while the reconstruction was carried out in 1621 by the master Giuseppe Dell'Aquila.

From a small votive aedicule it first became a small chapel and finally a church at the behest of the Bitontino people strongly linked to the cult of the Most Holy Virgin. During the celebrations on the last Sunday of August, the statue of the Madonna inside is transferred to Bitonto in the church of San Pietro Nuovo with a cart on which dozens of children sit, announcing the arrival of the statue in the city. On the first Sunday of September, however, the actual celebration takes place with the procession that brings the statue back to the church.
