Near Quasano, a hamlet of Toritto in the province of Bari, the Apulian Aqueduct cycle route crosses the Murgia countryside and becomes truly splendid. The surface is mostly gravel, so a gravel bike is necessary, if not a mountain bike.

A beautiful, undemanding route with beautiful views

The Mercadante Forest is a protected wooded area that extends for 1,300 hectares between the municipalities of Cassano delle Murge and Altamura. It was born in 1928 from a reforestation project after a flood, and hosts different species of trees, such as oaks, cedars and cypresses. It is the ideal place to cool off among the trees on hot summer days and take a break in one of the areas equipped with picnic tables.

Owned by the state, in the Mercadante Forest in Cassano delle Murge, it is used under concession by the Province of the Capuchin Friars Minor of Puglia for days of spirituality, retreats and self-managed school camps.
