산테라모 근처에는 라말룽가 바이크 파크가 있으며, 기술적인 트레일과 멋진 풍경 덕분에 MTB를 즐기기에 가장 좋은 장소 중 하나입니다. 바이크 파크 주변과 내부에는 그래블 바이크로도 이동 가능한 다양한 코스가 있습니다. 이 공원에는 고대 로체타 조이아 철도, 산 안젤로 동굴 유적지 및 기타 역사적, 경관적 관심 장소가 있습니다.

Superb viewpoint

The Grotta Croce (The Cross Grotto) is a natural cavity set in the walls of the canyon. This cave ist home to several birds, including kestrels and swifts and if you are lucky, you can spot the eagle that inhabits the area.

The Laterza ravine is one of the largest canyons in Europe and extends for 12 km between eroded rock walls and whitish limestone walls over 200 m high. and there are numerous cavities. Man has inhabited the ravines since prehistoric times. Here there were ancient churches, industrial activities and the remains of ancient civilizations such as the Greek and Roman ones. From a naturalistic point of view, in the Gravina there are Quercus trojana woods. The undergrowth is very rich, the orchids are very colourful.

There are picknick tables on both sides of the footpath, but no BBQ is allowed

Trulli - or trullo when you’re talking about just one dwelling - were initially built to provide temporary field shelters and storehouses. Over time they also became permanent dwellings for agricultural families and labourers of smallholdings. The simple traditional lime whitewash that decorates the trulli’s exterior complements the local geology and pastoral landscapes. To protect against the elements and balance the temperature all year round, the trulli walls are incredibly thick, made up of a double skin filled with rubble. Similarly, the doorways and windows are small. These iconic rural dwellings began appearing as early as the 14th century, and their popularity originated because of a 15th century decree that made urban settlers pay taxes to the crown under feudal rule. If the king’s inspectors came collecting, the villagers could easily demolish these inexpensive buildings into a pile of stones and hide in the forest, and then rebuild them once they’d gone.
