The church in Welitsch, under the patronage of St. Anne, looks back on a long history. Probably built around 1350, it was first documented in 1520. Older bells in the tower bear the dates 1501 and 1519. After a fire in 1685, a new church dedicated to St. Anne was built around 1700. The church received its present appearance through a new building between 1775 and 1777. For many centuries, the simple sandstone church also served as a fortified church. It was previously only accessible via a footbridge, and the last remnants of the moat were only filled in 1968 with the construction of the memorial. Inside the church is a remarkable altar of the 14 Holy Helpers with statuettes and a Stations of the Cross with 15 images. Today, St. Anne's Church is a branch church of the Sacred Heart Parish in Pressig. The patron saint’s festival is celebrated on the last Sunday in July together with the church consecration.

This spot isn't called 'at the five linden trees' for nothing. Surrounded by mighty trees, this small sacred monument is likely only noticed by the attentive hiker; passersby, on the other hand, probably won't notice it at all.

The name of the village of Rothenkirchen, where a fortified manor of the Andechs-Merani family was located as early as the 12th century, derives from the locally predominant red sandstone and clay. Steeped in history are the remains of a once mighty and proud castle, which belonged to Ulrich von Haßlach until 1358, then was purchased by Conrad IV of Würtzburg (the family ruled here for about 300 years) for his sons. It was partially devastated and destroyed during the Peasants' War, but was rebuilt. In 1633, it was burned and plundered by mercenaries from the Kronach fortress, and in 1667, it was sold to the Bishopric of Bamberg by Hans Veit IV of Würtzburg.

The remains of the preserved walls are interesting.
