Mighty and massive medieval tower from the 16th century, the Bastion of the Knights of Malta is the best preserved architectural asset in the Lamezo area. The Bastione di Malta is a rectangular tower located in the municipality of Lamezia Terme, near Gizzeria Lido. It differs from most of the coastal towers erected by the Spaniards in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, due to the thickness of the walls which is a few meters

The abbey of Santa Maria di Corazzo, among the hills of Castagna, emerges as an ancient fragment of history and spirituality. Founded by the Benedictines in the 11th century and later rebuilt by the Cistercians in the 12th century, this sacred place has withstood the tests of time. However, the signs of the earthquakes of 1638 and 1783 have left its ruins as evidence of a glorious past. Despite being stripped of its works of art, it continues to exert an evocative charm, offering visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Calabrian history.

Poorly maintained but still looks old

Can be traveled without problems on gravel and MTB. In some points of the descent towards Passo Acquabona, depending on the rain, there may be small sections with mud and puddles

The castle is not particularly maintained and cared for but also for this reason it retains a great charm.

The Norman-Swabian Castle of Nicastro, an ancient medieval fortress built by the Byzantines or Normans, dominates the historic district of San Teodoro in Lamezia Terme. Despite the damage caused by the earthquake of 1638, the castle retains the traces of four towers, bastions and a wall. Its history is linked to the tragic imprisonment of Henry VII, the rebellious son of Frederick II. Today, it offers a fascinating insight into Calabria's medieval history.

Parco Bombarda is located near Monte Mancuso, about 20 km from Lamezia Terme. It is a precious natural oasis in Calabria. The area is dotted with numerous paths perfect for MTB, such as the climb towards Monte Mancuso.
