Polizzi Generosa is a charming medieval village perched on the slopes of the Madonie Mountains, known for its Arab-Norman origins and rich historical heritage. "This charming medieval village is located on the southern slope of the Madonie, a mountain range that offers breathtaking landscapes and a rich history. With its 2,920 inhabitants, Petralia Soprana is the highest municipality of the Madonie and one of the highest in the whole of Sicily. The town is included in the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy and was proclaimed "Borgo dei borghi 2018"."

The town is located on a slope between 900 and 1,100 meters above sea level, surrounded by extensive forests of broadleaf and coniferous trees. The municipal territory extends mainly in latitude, from the Madonie watershed in the north to the province of Caltanissetta in the south.

The toponym Polizzi, of Greek origin (at least Byzantine), derives from a compound toponym ending in Polis (city), as emerged from Norman documentation which presents the spellings Polis, Polic, etc., Latinized in Politium and Policium. The name "Generosa" was granted by Frederick II, impressed by the excellent welcome he received. In 1863 with RD n. 1218, this denomination was made official."

Near Sclafani Bagni, once famous for its spa facilities, this pool of hot water in the open countryside is easily accessible and not delimited by any fence. The pool has a very pleasant temperature (just under 40°) and a pungent sulphurous smell. According to those who live here, its water is miraculous for treating skin diseases and pain resulting from arthrosis.
