High on the rugged slopes of the Sierra de la Villa in Villena, Alicante, stands the Castillo de Salvatierra, affectionately known as El Castillico. This ancient fortress, dating back to the 10th century, offers a fascinating glimpse into a bygone era when strategic military ingenuity and architectural ingenuity combined to create an impressive fortress.

This recently (and well) renovated tower from the 14th century is part of the many in the region belonging to the order of Santiago. The List of Towns of Jaén, by Philip II of 1575, describes it as: "a tower with a fence around it with its cubes and arrow slits and other signs in the middle of the town and that has a fairly deep water well inside it." for her servitude and that she and the castle are made of lime and earth and stone." (VILLEGAS DÍAZ, L. R., GARCÍA SERRANO, R., 1976. pp. 9-302).

The Castle of the Five Corners is a fortress built in the second half of the 14th century. It is located in the municipality of Cazorla, Spain, on a rocky plateau, near its summit. The hill is called Cerro Salvatierra, hence the castle is also known as Castillo de Salvatierra.

Strategically located on the road that connects the Alto Guadalquivir region with the lands of La Mancha. The castle of Segura de la Sierra is one of the main cultural tourist attractions in the area. The Castle dates from the time of the Knights of the Order of Santiago and was built during the 13th and 14th centuries. Spectacular views of the entire landscape.

This defense fortification was built on the remains of a previous fortress by the Order of Santiago, which placed the center of the Commandery of Castile there. It has suffered throughout history various processes of abandonment and inconsideration. In the 1960s a restoration took place that, with greater or lesser success, has allowed us to fit out this historic building as a public space. At the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, it underwent another adaptation process that, also, with greater or lesser success, has led us to reflect on museographic intervention.

These ruins belong to the Salvatierra castle or commonly called the Five Corners. From the top you can enjoy the views of the mountains and Cazorla. It is the point where some of the hiking routes in the Sierra de Cazorla begin.

The defensive complex is, together with the castle of Segura de la Sierra, one of the strongest and strongest fortresses in the entire Sierra de Segura. It is currently undergoing rehabilitation and adaptation to house the Hornos de Segura Astronomy Workshop, which will include an astronomical observatory, planetarium, dark room and exhibition hall, among other facilities.
