It was a wonderful hike through a beautiful old beech forest. This forest is part of the largest contiguous mixed deciduous forest in Sweden, practically the Swedish equivalent of the Hainich National Park in Germany. How lovely! I heard many nuthatches, but unfortunately didn't see any dippers. The Naturum information center is charmingly designed. You can get tips on hiking trails, lots of information about beech trees and their inhabitants, and there are free restrooms and a café. It's definitely worth a visit.

Looked to be an amazing shelter spot, there are toilets nearby as well, and you are really close to the main river.

At the beginning of the lake there is a nice bench under a few trees. The ideal place for a lunch break.

Sweden's national parks are simply beautiful and there are very well-kept paths. I have visited 19 national parks and here you get an impression of how beautiful it is here: https://youtu.be/bVMxiQj3yIg

The pond was created by Grundström in 1929 to make the area more attractive. Right on the pond there are nice seating for picnicking.

Odensjön is worth a visit because of its fantastic location and its different shapes. However, there is more to see than just a round lake. In the slopes themselves you can see snow niches (shallow niches), fantastic steep slopes and a cave (overhang). The lake is a very popular tourist destination. You can swim in the lake, but it gets deep very quickly and the bottom is rocky and muddy. There are several barbecue areas and a shelter. In the summer, Kultur i Natur organizes concerts with well-known artists at Odensjön. The event is therefore very well attended. Odensjön is an almost perfectly circular groundwater lake on the edge of the municipality of Röstånga. It lies in the depressed part of a crack valley running north-south. The lake is known for its shape and there have been many myths about its formation and history. Among other things, it was always claimed that the lake was bottomless. Lake Odense has crystal-clear water and is 19 meters deep. The water maintains a temperature of approximately 6-8 degrees Celsius at the bottom. The fact that the temperature is so consistent throughout the year is due to the lake's relatively deep water supply and its drainage. The water surface is 60 meters above sea level, and the plateau is approximately 100 meters above sea level. The 800-meter-long nature trail around Skärdammen is a good start to get to know the Söderåsen National Park.
