From the summit of Pico de la Cruz, there's a beautiful view that's well worth every effort! You won't be at the summit long before the summit lords come looking to see if they can find anything. In any case, I consider a visit to the summit a must.

Here the GR 131 branches off onto the ridge facing the caldera, with a view of the Playa de Taburiente basin, torn apart by countless gorges.

If you don't want to hike all the way up to the Pico de Bejenado, this is a good place to go. From there you can see the Calderra de Taburiente. The hiking trail branches off there and you can decide to descend again or hike to the summit.
