A deep sinkhole opens up here: It's a volcanic vent approximately 70 meters deep, which can be circumnavigated on secured paths. A few steps allow you to descend into the hole, but trying to see the bottom is doomed to failure.

From the summit of Pico de la Cruz, there's a beautiful view that's well worth every effort! You won't be at the summit long before the summit lords come looking to see if they can find anything. In any case, I consider a visit to the summit a must.

Geologically speaking, this is an extremely fascinating erosion crater, whose 2 million-year-old volcanic history is evident in its spectacular steep slopes. Inside the 9-kilometer-diameter crater lies the famous national park of the same name, which offers beautiful hiking trails.

Make sure you bring everything you need. There are two camp sites for 20 people. There's electricity (if there's been enough sun), but no electrical outlets. There's no running water, but there's a cistern with filtered rainwater, which I drank.

If the weather is good, the short walk to the Pico de la Cruz is worth it. Great views across to Tenerife, Teide and Gomera, and if you're lucky you can also see El Hierro.

The route runs through the middle of broom, pine forests and with a view of the Teide in Tenerife. Simply a brilliant view

The views are spectacular but if it is not on foot, prepare to suffer as much as you can imagine to get to this point, and access by e-bike or MTB is also prohibited. This mirador has the best view of the caldera because there are fewer trees to obscure the view. The short descent from the parking lot is worth it.

Try to get to the top as early as possible. Later in the day the road becomes very busy and there are few parking spaces left.

11월 5, 2023, Mirador de los Andenes
This viewpoint is located on the road that ascends towards Roque de los Muchachos from Santa Cruz de la Plama, very close to the summit on the left. From this location you can enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the Caldera de Taburiente, a huge crater that is one of the most impressive natural symbols of La Palma. You can also access it via the GR 131 but I assure you that you will pray that the end of the ascent arrives soon. The Caldera de Taburiente is a national park and a huge depression that was formed not by a volcanic crater, but by erosion over millions of years. The viewpoint offers an exceptional perspective on this natural space, with its rugged landscape and its walls that rise to almost 2,000 meters high from the caldera floor. The Mirador de los Andenes also provides panoramic views of the sky both day and night, making it a popular spot for astronomy fans. La Palma, and especially the area near Roque de los Muchachos, is known for having one of the cleanest skies and free of light pollution in the world, which makes it an ideal place for observing the stars and other celestial bodies. . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cjv6vqHo5A

11월 5, 2023, View of the El Charco Lava Flow
The eruption of El Charco was not as devastating as other historical or modern eruptions, but it still had an impact on the island, affecting agricultural areas and the lives of local people. The 1712 eruption is not as famous as Tajuya, San Juan, or the recent Cumbre Vieja eruption in 2021, but it is part of the archipelago's record of volcanic activity that is important to understand the nature and frequency of volcanic eruptions in this region. The volcanic activity on La Palma is part of the geological activity of the Canary Islands hotspot. Although specific details about the 1712 Charco eruption may not be complete, volcanologists study these historical eruptions to better understand how volcanoes have shaped the island and to predict possible future eruptive events. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAS8OkbRyoY
