Wonderful location in the Picos de Europa

Some tunnels are relatively long, dark, and uneven. A headlamp can be helpful here. You can take a Jeep ride back through the park from Cain with a national park ranger. Very informative. Advance reservations are required.

This place is famous for its impressive glacial cirque and the Fuente Dé Cable Car, which allows visitors to ascend to a height of 1,823 metres in just 4 minutes. Fuente Dé is also a starting point for various hiking and mountaineering routes, such as the ascent to Alto de la Triguera and the circuit around Peña Remoña. In addition, the area is rich in biodiversity and offers opportunities for observing flora and fauna.

Great stopover on the way to Picu Urriellu

This is a humble refuge at an altitude of 1,300 metres in the Picos de Europa, which is an intermediate point between the winter resorts of Texu and the Urriellu plain. It has 20 beds, an open kitchen for guests, a fireplace and a wood stove. It also offers a food service and a bar.

La Vega de Liordes is an impressive meadow located in the upper part of the Central Massif of the Picos de Europa, in the Leonese municipality of Posada de Valdeón. This place is known for its natural beauty and its spectacular mountainous surroundings.

The Refugio Uriello is located at the foot of Pico Uriellu. It offers the possibility of spending the night in a dormitory. There are also hot and cold drinks and snacks. The view is fantastic. We sat on a bench in the sun and admired the summit.

Here you can fill up your water bottles. The refuge also offers the option of staying overnight; in summer the hut is open for catering. We were there in mid-October 2024 and it was closed. The fountain is outside.
