El Castillo de Santa Cruz is located on a small island connected to the Puerto de Santa Cruz by a pedestrian bridge. Fortress of the sixteenth century built to strengthen the city's defensive system, after the attack on the Port of A Coruña by the British Navy, under the command of Sir Francis Drake. It is currently the headquarters of CEIDA (Centro de Información Ambiental y Extensión Universitaria de Galicia)
